Gator Pit Campground

Big Cypress National Preserve

The Gator Pit Campground is located in the Bear Island unit of Big Cypress. To reach the Bear Island area travel up Turner River Road by going through a gate adjacent to FL 29 about 4.5 miles north of I-75 (Alligator Alley). This primitive campground requires an Off-Road Vehicle Permit to access.

Directions:

I-75, FL-29 and US41 all travel through the Big Cypress National Preserve. The Big Cypress Visitors Center is located on US41 about half way between Naples and Miami.
