Tybee Island is located 20 minutes from historic Savannah. This
barrier island boasts 5 miles of beaches backed by sea oat-covered sand dunes.
Tybee Island is great for the whole family, in addition to the
beach, the island's south-end pier and pavilion provide a great place to reel in
the day's catch of the sea, or for a leisurely walk above the waves. Tybee
Island is loaded with history, with it's location along the Southern coast the
island was important in America's defense. Fort Screven was the site of a
Spanish-American War era fortification. Nearby Fort
Pulaski played a vital role in the Civil War. The Tybee Lighthouse is
Georgia's oldest and tallest lighthouse.
