Located in the St. Bernard Delta of the Mississippi River,
within the city limits of New Orleans, the 23,000 acre Bayou Sauvage
National Wildlife Refuge is the U.S.'s largest urban wildlife refuge.
Bayou Sauvage NWR offers trails, fishing, bird watching,
canoeing, bicycle path, crabbing & crawfishing, and wildlife
observation/photography.
To reach Bayou Sauvage NWR from New Orleans, Exit 254 off
I-10 onto I-510 (Chalmette) and travel about 2.0 miles to Hwy. 90 east
exit and turn left. Continue about 4.0 miles. |
