Beginning at Tripp's Fishing Center, the Ocean Isle Trail goes
from Shallotte Point to Ocean Isle Beach Access point. From Tripp's paddle along
the western side of Shallotte River, around Bowen Point (Shallotte Point) and
travel southwesterly along the shore of the Shallotte River. Continue past
Shallotte Inlet and paddle to the east or south side of the Waterway and enter
Shallotte Sound. Following the Sound, re-enter the Waterway and cross to the
other side of the Intracoastal Waterway at about the 3 mile point. Enter Gause
Landing Creek at about 3.8 miles, continue along the creek avoiding the
Waterway. Pass under NC 904 and re-enter the Waterway. Cross the Waterway and
enter Eastern Channel, continue on to Still Creek. |
