The 4,053 acre Pinckney Island Wildlife Refuge includes Pinckney
Island, Corn Island, Big Harry and Little Harry Islands, Buzzard Island and
numerous small hammocks. Pinckney is the largest of the islands and the
only one open to public use. Over fourteen miles of trails are open to hiking
and bicycling. Directions: From I-95, take
SC Exit 8 and travel east on US Hwy. 278, toward Hilton Head Island,
approximately 18 miles to the refuge entrance on the left. From Hilton
Head Island, exit the island via US 278 west, and the refuge entrance will be on
your right approximately 0.5 mile. |
